COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream Review

Hello peeps! Today’s post is another review of a moisturiser by COSRX. I have raved about this brand and their products in my previous posts and finally got to share what I think about their Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream. I bought this at Jolse and was very excited to try it as hyaluronic acid is a skin friendly ingredient which I have shared it here. However, after using it for a week, I am not sure if I like this product. Continue to read for more.

About this Brand

Since this is my first time reviewing product from COSRX, let me give a brief introduction, especially for those who are new to this brand.

Let’s start with the name itself, COSmetics + RX= COSRX.

It is a Korean beauty brand which the director, Mr. RX (the mascot of the brand), has researched in this field for over 20 years as he, himself, has skin concerns since he was young. They deliver minimal packaging with effective ingredients to solve customer’s skin concerns. They also try to reduce harmful ingredients in their products.

The Water Drop symbol represents the water that the company extracts from natural ingredients instead of using purified water to maximise the effect of other active ingredients in their products. Their motto is Expecting Tomorrow, which means… “the moment your skin meet COSRX, you can expect more tomorrow.”

About the Product

COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream, 100ml, ~$20

+ filled with moisture-retention ingredient such as Hippophae Rhamnoides Water and Hyaluronic Acid, a humectant that draws moisture from the air.

+ claims to moisturise and nourish the skin deeply without feeling heavy on the skin.

+ strengthen and protect the skin from further loss of hydration.

+ balance water and oil content of the skin.

Hippophae Rhamnoides Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Betaine, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine, Panthenol, Dimethicone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Carbomer, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum

As you can see, the ingredients are very minimal which reflects their philosophy. The key ingredient is Sodium Hyaluronate 3000ppm, which is a natural moisturising factor.

Hippophae Rhamnoides water is not from hippopotamus 😝… It is a scientific term for Sea Buckthorn a.k.a the vitamin tree, which is a rich source of Vitamin C and fatty acids.

Translucent plastic tube with a metal cap. It comes with an extra white lid.

A translucent cream-ish lotion type of texture. Product is easily spreadable.

I sniffed and sniffed… none.

My Overall View

This is so far the least favourite product I have tried from COSRX even though I would love to like it. This is due to its texture which is not my cup of tea and whoa… this cream is really intense even though I have dry skin most of the time. At first, I used it only at night and I liked it as my skin felt very soft and moisturised the next morning. However, after using it for a week, I stopped reaching out for it as it would leave a greasy feeling on my skin that lasted for hours. It is not sticky though. Maybe, this is due to the oils in this product. In other words, it did not absorb into my skin well. 😕

Now, I mostly use it for my neck and chest area unless when my skin is super dehydrated and flaky, which, thank God I have not experienced this for a while now. Even if so, I think a hydration toner or serum will do a better work. However, I could imagine this to be a good and affordable moisturiser for evening use during the winter time.

Would I recommend? It is not a bad product but I would only recommend if you have very dry skin or you would like an extra boost of hydration. I rate this 3/5.

Would I repurchase? No.
