Hello! Welcome to my first review on a makeup product which it’s the Clear Fit Blemish Cushion by COSRX. They launched their Clear Fit line in September 2017 which includes the Master Patch, Spot Concealer and of course, the Blemish Cushion, which was featured in my February favourites. I do think it deserves a full review for you guys so I am going to go straight into the product and my thoughts about this cushion.
About the Product
COSRX Clear Fit Blemish Cushion, SPF 47 PA++, $24
This is a perfect blend of coverage, sun protection and blemish-healing effects. It is sort of a makeup plus skincare product which I think is a brilliant concept. It claims to be suitable for all skin types especially, oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin.
Titanium Dioxide, Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, CI 77492, Niacinamide, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Trimethyl-Isiloxysilicate, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Sodium Chloride, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid,1,2-Hexanediol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, CI 77491, Caprylyl Glycol, CI 77499, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Adenosine, Vinyl Dimethicone/Methicone Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Water, Ethylhexylglycerin, Madecassoside
The star ingredients are:
- Centella asiatica extract, a herb that has been traditionally used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine. It helps to heal blemishes and calms troubled skin.
- Niacinamide a.k.a vitamin B3 and nicotinic acid. It offers anti-aging properties that helps to improve skin tone, dullness and fine lines.
- Adenosine is also known for its anti-wrinkle effects as it energises the skin.
- Madecassoside, an active form of centella asiatica which is good for controlling inflammation and stimulating collagen production.
Nice black square case but as you can see from the picture above, the case will smudge when it is in touch with powder and grease. I tried to clean with cleansing water but it didn’t really go away 😦 It is also quite bulky compared to some cushions, so, some might think it is not travel friendly. There are a mirror and white cushion puff but it does NOT come with an extra refill.
- N21 (light beige)
- N23 (natural beige)
- N27 (deep beige) *new*
I intended to get N21 which is the shade I got for my Laneige BB cushion but after reading some reviews, I went with N23 and it suits just right for my skin tone. It is more of a yellow undertone rather than a pink undertone.
Medium to full coverage as you apply more.
There is a hint of herbal scent.
To make it a full REAL review, I did a before and after results. I used this cushion after my skincare and sunscreen in the morning. As it was quite sunny that day, I set it with powder, especially around my nose and forehead area, using Innisfree No-Sebum Powder Pact. It gave me a semi-matte finish and I did not use any concealer for my pimples or scars but just my under eye area.
After all that, I headed out to the hair saloon to finally have a hair makeover. I was out for around 6 hours and I did not retouch my face with the cushion or powder throughout the day. So, here is the before and after shot 🙂
My face looked shinier and a bit oilier as you can see in the after shot. I do think the lighting has exaggerated it as the oiliness was not too much for me personally. The coverage did fade a little as my pimples, acne scars and pores were showing out more. Perhaps, I should try it with a face primer next time for a longer lasting effect. It did not feel tacky and cakey as there were no creases on my fine lines and around my nose area. So, I think it did a pretty good job after with all the hair treatment and dry blowing in the saloon for more than 5 hours!
My overall view
To compare with my favourite Laneige’s Pore control BB cushion, I love this cushion better for its blemish control ingredients and higher coverage. It also makes me feel guilt-free when I apply this on my face for the whole day.
As for the downside to this product, there are two:
- Patience needed as it takes a while for the product to actually blend into your skin. So, I needed to pat more (“tok tok”) and wait for a minute or so to apply concealer, if not, the product will move or transfer to my fingers. It can be due to its formulation or the puff itself. I personally prefer Laneige’s puff as it gives a smoother application. Therefore, this would not be a go-to-cushion when you are in a rush.
- COSRX does not sell its refill so you will have to repurchase the entire product. The product does not come with a refill too which is actually still alright for its price. Other brands’ cushions that come with refill normally cost around $30-$45.
Would I recommend? Yes. I rate this 4/5.
If you have troubled skin or want a high coverage foundation with a semi matte finish, this is a good one. Besides, I do think this is suitable for ALL skin types but for those who are in a hot and humid country, it is better to set your face with powder after application and bring your blotting paper along with you.
However, if large pores are your main concern, I think Laneige Pore Control BB Cushion does a better job in giving you that smooth skin texture. Also, I would not recommend this if you want a dewy finish look.
Would I repurchase? Yes. I think this would be my go-to-cushion when I experience an acne breakout or when I want a higher coverage.
